Jeff Brown, MRA #277, USBA #277, AMA #279, CRA #279I have had an infatuation with motor sports in general for most of my life, but I get asked the questions, “how does someone get started in a sport such as this” or “why on earth would you want to do that? You’re crazy!”……so here is a little bit about myself.
Age: Take a guess!

Before I was born my father was into all kinds of hot rods, bikes, drag racing, dune buggies, etc. So I guess one could say that I grew up around “Gear Heads”, which sparked my interest in motor sports to begin with. Throughout my teen years, both my brother and I had old cars, and trucks, as well as some of our buddies. I hung out a lot with the Hurley Family, where we would go out and race Jeeps, on and off road, which was a lot of fun; but as we all know………4 wheels is not near as much fun as 2!!!
My first real taste for motorcycles was when I was 13. I had bought an old Honda 125 trail bike from my friend’s dad for $100, and hid in the shed next to my house. The only time that I could ride it was after school, before mom got home from work. I had to ride it on the street throughout the neighborhood, because I had no way to haul it anywhere. I did that for a while, till I got into skateboarding, which I did for nearly ten years. When I was about 15 my buddy Shawn Hurley knew some guys that raced “Speedway” bikes, so he decided to give it a try. From there we were hooked. He raced the bikes, and I was his help in the pits. I did that for about 6 seasons, till I too started to race the brutal, no-brakes, methanol breathing, “Speedway” machines. Unfortunately after a couple seasons, the speedway scene had died out in Colorado, and I was left to do nothing but ride dirt and street.
Not that riding isn’t fun…….but riding is not racing! After owning sport bikes for a few years, and getting into continuous trouble in the canyons, with a fierce itch to go racing, I decided to throw myself to the wolves, and started “Roadracing”. From there I was hooked once again. I could not believe the amount of competitive, fast riders that there were in the Colorado area. After a few years went by, and a few broken bones, I started to travel outside the state. And now……5 years into it….and more than 5 broken bones, screws, and plates…….I managed to win 4 Championship Titles in Middleweight Supersport, Middleweight Superbike, King of the Mountain GTU, and Solo Middleweight Endurance, as well as compete at the AMA level. But I have not done it on my own, I have to thank all my sponsors, friends, and family for their support.
But I am not done yet, so stay tuned to the Race Reports, and Race Results for more exciting action!!!! My fingers hurt from typing now, so I am going to go ride.
